Out Walking

This week l used some pictures l took last winter for the latest sketch over at
Lets Get Sketchy. Follow my link to see this weeks fantastic reveal by the design team.

The papers are from Authentique. These papers have a really nice texture
and this time l followed the sketch pretty closely!
Under my strips on the left side l added some sheer ribbon, l've inked everything and used a combination of flowers from Prima. The small chipboard swirl was inked and then l added liquid pearls over the top. I used two different border punches as well.

July Sketch at Turtle Soup

It's my turn this week at Turtle Soup and it's a sketch challenge!
This sketch was created by Bev and she has come up with a brilliant one this time around!
My photos were taken last Halloween of my son who dressed up for his work Halloween party.

Here is my layout

I used a few different elements on this layout.
Firstly l inked over a mask in three different areas, then stamped some images over the top and stamped the zig zag onto some of the outside edges.
I found this great Spellbinders lattice die cut and cut out some PP with it. One piece l cut into a rectangle and placed under one photo. The second lattice piece l recut with a scallop die cut and placed under the edge of the other photo.

I distressed the edges of the red PP and inked them. To create the top edge l used a border punch and then ripped out a few bits, this was also inked. I repeated this look on the bottom right hand side.

I found a Basic Grey corner rub on, you know those ones with a bit of bling! I put it on both corners on the left hand side.

You have all month to play along.. make 1 Layout or 2 cards, or 2 tags or 2 ATC's using the sketch.
Thanks for looking and l hope you can come and play along with us this week :)

LGS July week 2

Do you ever do a layout and after a while decide that you are not really happy with it?
Well that's what happened to me this week.
I changed some of this layout from my original design.

Another week and another great sketch to play along with at Lets Get Sketchy. Follow the link to see the great reveal from the design team.
(Sorry about the puffy look, l just couldn't seem to get the paper to co operate)

Here is my take

I used  texture paste with a mask and then inked a combination of yellow, aqua and gold over the top of the masking. I stamped using the same colours as well. Once my masking was dry the layout came together quickly. I finished with some hand stitching.

Come on over to LGS and join in this weeks fun!

Simple Folded Card

Hi everyone,
Today l am going to show you a simple tri folded card that can be used for any occasion.
This is a great way to use those leftover scraps from your layouts.
You can join in with me at Turtle Soup and make your own card from these instructions. Just click here to be a part of the forum.

Cut a 4" strip from a 12x12 piece of card. Cut 2" off one end to leave you with a 4" x 10" strip

Score 4" from the top edge and fold, then score 3" from the bottom and fold. Your card should look like this above

For the top 4" x 4" square cut a piece of patterned paper, or emboss a coloured piece of cardstock as l did and stick down. I rubbed ink over mine to make the pattern stand out more.
Cut a 4" x 3" patterned paper for the front panel and stick down.
Cut a 3" x 3 3/4" plain card and score in half. This will be used to write your sentiment. Place this over the embossed card and white middle section of the card

Cut a 3 1/2" x 3" piece of card and matt onto a patterned paper of your choice. Centre this on the front panel and place it above the fold.

Decorate as desired
To finish off l tied sheer ribbon around the card to hold it together

The patterned papers I used are from Graphic 45
I hope this has inspired you to make some  quick cards!

New DT at Turtle Soup

I have been asked to join the DT at Turtle Soup. This is a forum that has come back to life thanks to Bev who has worked tirelessly to bring it all back again!
There will be weekly challenges, games, general chat and tutorials.

To begin the revival we have posted a sketch to play along with.
Come on over and see the great layouts done by the new design team.
Here is mine -

The papers and chipboard stickers are from MME, flowers from Prima.
On the grey floral PP l used a border punch along the top edge, ripped some of it off, then inked it.
The sketch was to use hexagons so l chose a mask to create the shapes and highlighted them with black and yellow ink. I cut some yellow hexagons from a PP and incorporated them onto my page.
I made a cluster of flowers using chipboard, fussy cut flowers from paper and added some gorgeous pink flowers from Prima.
The doily is inked on the edges with yellow
