Quick Post

This is my layout for the March challenge over at Scrap The Girls.
This month it was a colour challenge and you had to use white, green and black

I have distressed the edges of the two papers l used as photo mats, added a doilly to which l made a flower cluster and topped this with a sheer green ribbon and added a couple of wooden shapes. The black word strips are from Prima flower packaging. My journalling block is cut from a Kaisercraft paper.

New Sketch Up

The latest sketch is up at Sketchabilities, check it out and join us for the month of April.

Here is my take

I covered the background paper in gesso to soften the colour. Then l used a mask with paste to make the circles, then added ink over the top. After that l added hand stitching to the outside of the circles and machine stitching to the edges of the layout. I have distressed all of the papers, made a couple of paper rosettes and added some hand journalling.

Thanks for looking.
You're welcome to leave comment, l love reading them!

Easter time

Easter is here tomorrow. I am sure my kids are hoping for lots of chocolate to indulge in.
Whatever you are all doing, l hope Easter is a happy time for everyone.

Joined in again this month at Scrap For Help and the criteria was to use burlap.
I used it as a corner feature under my photo, and to highlight some of the snow flakes on the transperancy.

I have added splatters around the edges to represent the cold. It was freezing the day we were here.
Happy Easter!

Day 2

Today is day 2 of my 4 days off work. Just like a mini holiday......l wish....

I found a new sketch challenge over at Sassy Scrapper and thought l would play along
This is the sketch

Here is my take

For this layout all the pattern papers have been distressed.
They are from Basic Grey and Crate.
The white card under my photo was firstly masked with some paste. Once dry l inked 4 colours over the top and then misted over that.
I have added white circles with paint onto my background paper, and then layered flowers and my title over them.

Here are a couple of cards l have made. Lately l have been using my leftovers and making way too many, so l will have to start giving them away to friends

Thanks for looking

Having Fun

This is what l wish life was all about - having fun!

Playing along at White with 1 this month, and the challenge is to use white, brown and doodling.
Here is my take -

I went through my pattern papers and came up with these brown and white ones.
I have distressed all the paper edges, doodled around the punched edge on the left side, fancy cut some flowers that l then added liquid pearls to the centres of, to give them some extra pop and added paint splatters to the bottom of the page. Above the large flower l have a sheer ribbon bow.

Thanks for looking and enjoy your day!

Sketchabilities March Challenge

So excited to be a part of the new design team at Sketchabilities. The latest sketch is up if you would like to join in the fun. Here is the sketch you will be playing with. You have until the 28th March to link your layout.

Here is my take using a picture of my sister's new baby boy

The papers are from Teresa Collins, flowers from Prima and Manorhouse. Using a mask l have inked over parts of my background. I painted gesso over the word paper to soften the black colour and stitched round the one of my background papers. The large heart has been outlined with liquid pearls and l added a couple of paper rosettes to the flower mix

Here are a couple of close ups

Weekend Layout

It's not often l get a weekend off, so when l saw the latest challenge at Once Upon A ... Sketch l thought l better join in. The theme is 'Weekend" and you can find it here.
You also have to use this sketch

Here is my take

I have used a mask on opposite edges and created a circle shape with texture and added ink to highlight the small raised dots. A different mask was used on parts of my background simply by rubbing with ink over the mask. The chipboard bird cage was painted with a pale pink glaze.
The papers are from Basic Grey ,the flowers and stick pin from Prima
My journalling explains how l got to go away with my daughter and her friend for a long weekend.
Here are some close ups
